Message from Vesna – Blue Mountains City Council censorship of artistic expression
The DreamRaiser project, developed at the Wanjinas' request in order to help Aboriginal people, has been under attack for almost two years. Its participants have been bullied, harassed and threatened. A few local Aboriginal vandals in the Blue Mountains started their campaign of hate when my "Dreamtime Set in Stone" book was published in late 2009, upset that the Aboriginal elder and didgeridoo player Goomblar Wylo decided to tell the truth about the Aboriginal condition today. A few angry local Aborigines, who completely misunderstood both the book and our art, have been threatening us with all sorts of things, saying this is their Payback time [Wanjinas World Warning]
The local Aborigines were able to get away with their campaign of hate and harassment, because the local council was unable to react appropriately [Among the Hostiles].
The local Aborigines see the current Australian goodwill and the Government's efforts to right the wrongs of the past as a good opportunity for revenge. They are not interested in reconciliation or co-operation of any kind, as it seems that they only have hate in their hearts and vengeance on their mind. They have no interest in improving their condition or to use the Government funds as Goomblar wisely suggested they should – to go to school and get a job – but keep yelling in our face: "This is payback time!".
